HINARI - Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative

Portland Press supports HINARI run by the World Health Organization. This means that low-income countries can obtain free or low cost access.

There are two tiers of access through HINARI. Institutions in a UN Least Developed Country or in a country with a GNI per capita below $1600 or a HDI (Human Development Index) of less than 0.63 are eligible for free access (Group A; see below). Institutions in countries with a HDI less than 0.67 and/or a GNI per capita of less than $5000 pay a fee of $1000 per year / institution (Group B).
