Colchester Vacancy for a Senior Business Administrator

Portland Customer Services is looking for an outstanding candidate for the role of Senior Business Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the transfer and integration of new fulfilment business into Portland Customer Services, liaising with existing clients regarding their data integrity and reporting requirements, resolving and responding to more complex queries or tasks as well as managing the day to day running of the Business Support department, delegating tasks to members of the team as necessary. The role will report to the Customer Services Manager and will involve managing two staff in the Business Support team.

Portland Customer Services provides membership, journal subscription and book order fulfilment and transaction order processing for a variety of publishing and membership organizations. Key to these relationships is the initial transfer and ongoing management of the product information and customer data on behalf of the client organizations which is handled by the Business/TIMSS* Admin team as well as a magnitude of other tasks such as dealing with client reporting, setting up rates, new products, responding to client queries, sending renewals etc.

The successful candidate will be required to manage the Business Support department, prioritising an often heavy workload and delegating tasks appropriately within the department under little or no supervision. The role requires the ability to understand complex subscription or membership relationship management and to use appropriate software to ensure the integrity of the information and to provide reports. The role also entails liaison with clients which requires a high level of communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate: must be able to demonstrate strong organizational, managerial and administration skills. The ability to read and write Crystal and SQL Server Reports is desirable as well as a good knowledge of Excel, although training will be provided if necessary. The candidate will be expected to liaise with customers, clients and prospects and will be expected to show their ability to learn quickly. Experience within the Publishing industry would be preferred but is not essential.
