The Energy Institute (EI) is pleased to announce the publication of a new report and assessment model for those involved in managing the maintenance of equipment within the oil and gas industry.
The new publication is designed as a tool to support industry's commitment to safety, reliability and availability through improving the management of maintenance. It builds upon experience gained from previous maturity models developed for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and other duty holders.
The assessment model uses Capability Maturity Modelling to measure organisational behaviour. Essentially an auditing tool, the capability maturity model will assist duty holders and contractors to assess and, where needed, improve the efficacy of their maintenance organisation. When applied, the model provides a profile of the strengths and weaknesses of the core and supporting processes associated with maintenance activities. It enables users to identify the steps that can improve reliability through improved organisational performance and to assess the key issues affecting maintenance performance from the perspective of those undertaking the work.
Whilst the model has been developed using the principles of UK safety management culture, it can also be used to improve maintenance operations in different geographical regions worldwide. Other energy industry sectors (e.g. power generation) may also find this new title useful.
The new publication includes a CD Rom containing audit recording sheets (in Word format).
